Hidden in Plain Sight: The Influence of Western Esoteric Movements on Modern Thought San Jose, CA - The Rosicrucian Order, AMORC, a 501(c) 3 public benefit organization, is sponsoring the esoteric conference, Hidden in Plain Sight: The Influence of Western Esoteric Movements on Modern Thought at Rosicrucian Park in San Jose, California, Thursday, July 22 through Sunday, July 25, 2010. This conference brings together scholars and practitioners within the field of western esotericism to explore the substantial influence this tradition has had on modern thought. Alchemy, Kabbalah, Christian Esotericism, the Evolution of Reality, Gnosticism, and ancient Egyptian spirituality, all part of the western esoteric tradition, are some of the topics that will be presented by leading authorities in these fields. Speakers include: Keynote Speaker Lee Irwin, Ph.D (Professor and Chair of the Religious Studies Department at the College of Charleston, Vice President of the Association for the Study of Esotericism, and author of many books and articles on western esotericism); Dean Radin, Ph.D. (Senior Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, coauthor of over 200 technical and popular articles and several books including Entangled Minds and The Conscious Universe); Maria de Lourdes Argüelles , Ph.D. (Professor Emerita of Education, Claremont Graduate University and licensed psychotherapist); Dennis William Hauck, Ph.D. (practicing alchemist and author of over a dozen books on alchemy); and others. Some presentation titles include: The Nature of the First Matter in the Esoteric and Scientific Traditions; Forbidden Knowledge: Western Esotericism and Higher Education in the Social Sciences and Humanities; Transforming Work and Workplaces through Stealth Esotericism; and Reincarnation and the Psychonoetic Body in Western Esotericism. There is no fee for this conference. Suggested donation is $75 per person. All are welcome.
